What is MKV?

MKV is a multimedia container format that can hold an unlimited number of video, audio, image or subtitle tracks in one file. It is similar in concept to other containers like AVI, MP4 and ASF, but it is entirely open in specification.

MKV is a universal format for storing multiple videos in different encodings, audios and subtitle tracks, even including such streaming media as RealMedidia and QuickTime. Currently, it can contain AVI, DivX, XviD, 3ivX and VP6 video encodings and audio encodings, such as PCM, MP3 and AC3.

1. Open [Renee Video Editor], and then click [Crop].

2. After adding the target file, select [Cut] and the output format. Then check [Force video re-encoding] and click the play button to split the video.

Note: the function [Force video re-encoding] can ensure the video screen synchronization with the sounds, but the splitting time will be prolonged.

3. You can move the sliders on the progress bar to select the target clips, and then click the play button to confirm if they are the clips you want. Also, you can set the start and end time to slightly adjust the clips.

4. For the clips, you can click [Subtitle] to select the your subtitle files and set the font style. Then select the output folder and click [Start] to use the splitter to cut the MKV video.
