● Restart or start the iPhone / iPad

● iPhone / iPad is locked over 48 hours

● Did not unlock the device with passcode in the past 6 days or with Face ID in the past 4 hours (In Face ID device)

● iPhone / iPad receives the remote lock order

● Fail to unlock iPhone / iPad with Touch ID or Face ID for 5 times

● After holding volume button and side button at the same time to close or rise SOS emergency contacts (Works in device with Face ID)

● Change or add Touch ID or digital passcode。

● Try to access Medical ID

If you forgot the lock screen passcode and enter the wrong passcode for 10 time, your iPhone / iPad will be disable. Besides, the device may erase data after 10 failed passcode attempts if you have enabled such settings.

Notes: This erase data function can be set in the last item in [Settings] > [Touch ID & Passcode] in iOS devices.

Different contents will be shown when you enter the wrong passcode:

● Keep trying when you enter wrong passcode for 4 times;

● Required to wait for 1 minute at least after the fifth time attempt；

● Device will be locked for 15 minutes after the 6th and 7th attempts;

● Device will be locked for 1 hour after the 9th attempt.

The lock screen passcode of iPhone / iPad protects data inside the device. However, what if you forget the passcode? Following will provide different methods to unlock the passcode for iPhone / iPad. These methods also works for iPod since they run the same system.

Part 2: Common Methods to Unlock Passcode for iPhone or iPad

1. iTunes

If you have create backup for your iPhone / iPad with iTunes in your PC, you can connect related devices to iTunes without passcode. If you have never sync your iPhone to any computer, please skip this method. Besides, unlocking iPhone / iPad with iTunes is very simple. Follow us.

Detailed Steps:

① Connect iPhone / iPad to computer with USB cable. Then open iTunes. If you use Mac with MacOS Catalina 10.15, please open iTunes in Finder.

② iTunes will sync your iOS device.

③ Click [Restore iPhone] in iTunes.

④ You can see the settings of iOS device. And you can click to recover from iTunes backup. Finally, the passcode of iPhone / iPad will be deleted.

2. iCloud

If you have enable the “Find my iPhone” function in related iPhone / iPad, you can erase data from them with iCloud. Besides, if you can not access the iPhone, or you have ever synced the data of the device with iCould (Not iTunes), please choose this method to unlock passcode of iPhone / iPad.

Attention: If you unlock passcode of iPhone / iPad with this method, data in the device will be erased as well.

Detailed Steps:

1. Turn on your computer and go to iCloud.com in your browser. Then enter your Apple ID and password.

2. Select the target device in the list after clicking [All Devices] in “Find my iPhone”.

3. Click [Erase iPhone].

Note: Please make sure your device has connected to Intenet and is opened. If your iPhone is offline, it will erase all data from the iPhone remotely when it is online once you have finished all the steps above.

3. Recovery Mode

If you can not restore from iTunes backup or erase data with iCloud, you can try to unlock your iPhone or iPad with recovery mode. Before processing, you need to know that all data in the device will be erased. If you have backup the data inside beforehand, you can restore to the device after unlocking. Or you will lost all data.

Follow steps below to process:

1. Download and install the latest iTunes. If you have opened the software, please exit.

2. Keep iPhone connected. Then follow steps here untill you get into the recovery mode：

● iPhone models with Face ID: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Power button until your device begins to restart. Continue holding the Power button until your device goes into recovery mode.

● iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the recovery mode screen.

● iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold the Top (or Side) and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

● iPhone 6s or earlier iPhone with Home button: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

3. Click [Restore] in the pop up window to factory reset iPhone and erase data inside.

4. Check the date of each backup and select the backup you want to restore. Click [Recover] and wait for the restoration finish. Please enter the password if you set the password when you create the backup.

5. Please restart the device and wait for the restoration finish. After that, please disconnect the device from computer.

TipsTo improve the security of your iPhone / iPad after unlocking the passcode, it is recommended to set the passcode again.

Here is how to set or change the passcode for iPhone / iPad:

1. Go to [Settings] in iPhone / iPad. Then set the passcode on the basis of your device model:

● iPhone X and later models: Click [Face ID & Passcode]

● Other models: Click [Touch ID & Passcode]

2. Click Enable Passcode or Change Passcode. Then follow the instruction to set or change the passcode. After that, you can unlock the iPhone with Face ID or Touch ID (Depends on your device model).
