Part 1. MKV and AVI
Audios, videos and subtitles can be merged into one MKV file. For example, one MKV file contains a H.264 video, a MP3 or AAC audio. Therefore, MKV is usually used to save HD movies or videos.
MKV can save much information and support many compression forms of video, audio and subtitles. However, it can not be used in some devices, such as iPod, MP4 and some small devices.
An AVI file can contain audio and video data, synchronize the audio and video play. Moreover, it can be created without any compression.
AVI is a traditional video format, which can contain high-qualified video in small size. Usually, AVI has few requirements for video players but has high compatibility. It can be used in PC, video games, smart phones, tablets, MP4 players, MP5 and PDA.
