Method 1: Rotate Video in Windows 10 with FFmpeg (Operate in CMD)
Being a open source software, FFmpeg can rotate, cut and merge video for users. You can also rotate video with FFmpeg, but you need to make it in Command Prompt. If you think this method is complicated, please go to method 2 about how to rotate a video with an utility software.
Step 1: Go to the official website of FFmpeg and then click “Download”.

Step 2: Find “Windows” and then select “Windows Builts”.

Step 3: Select target version which is compatible with your system. And click “Download Build”.

Step 4: After download finishes, please decompress the package. Then please save the ffmpeg.exe file in bin folder to system32 folder in C Disk.
Step 5: Enter “CMD” in Search and select “Run as administrator” in the menu after clicking Command Prompt in the search result.

Step 6: Enter the following command accordingly.
Rotate the video for 90 degrees in the clockwise direction: C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -i e:2018.mp4 -vf transpose=1 e:201812.mp4

Rotate video for 90 degrees in the counterclockwise direction: C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe -i e:2018.mp4 -vf transpose=2 e:201813.mp4

Definition of the command:
[C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe] refers to the location where you install FFmpeg
[-i e:2018.mp4]-I-items after “-i” refer to the saving location, name and format of the output video after rotation.
[-vf transpose=1] refers to rotate the video in clockwise direction for 90° and after this are the saving location, name and format of the output video after rotation.
[-vf transpose=2]refers to rotate the video in counterclockwise direction for 90° and after this are the saving location, name and format of the output video after rotation.
[C:\Windows\System32\ffmpeg.exe] refers to the location where you install FFmpeg
[-i e:2018.mp4]-I-items after “-i” refer to the saving location, name and format of the output video after rotation.
[-vf transpose=1] refers to rotate the video in clockwise direction for 90° and after this are the saving location, name and format of the output video after rotation.
[-vf transpose=2]refers to rotate the video in counterclockwise direction for 90° and after this are the saving location, name and format of the output video after rotation.

Step 2: Click “Add Files” and select the target video you want to rotate.

Step 3: Select “Rotate and Crop” function. You can change the direction of your video at will. You can rotate the video for 90 degrees in the clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Also, you can flip the video horizontally or vertically.

Step 4: You can also crop the video at will by moving the crop line to set the crop area on your needs as well as remove unwanted part like the black bars from video.

Step 5: Click “Cut” function to get the desired part from the video by dragging the progress bar to set the start and ending time of the clip.

Step 6: Effect function provides filters, zoom in and out and audio effect.

Step 7: You can add watermark in text, texture even video to video. Also, you can remove watermark with “Watermark” function from the video.

Step 8: Click “Music” to mute the background sound of the video and add desired background music to video at will.

Step 9: You can also add subtitles to videos with “Subtitle” function.

Step 10: After rotating and editing the video with other functions, please click “OK” and return to the main interface. Then select target output format and location before clicking “Start” to output your video.

Method 3: Rotate Video with Avidemux
Being a free video editing software, Avidemux provides simple video edit tools like rotate and cut.
Step 1: Launch Avidemux and then upload the target video. Select a codec in the output codec menu.

Step 2: Then click “Filter” and “Effect”. Select “Transform” inside. Then you can rotate and flip the video.

Step 3: Select the output format after editing. Then save the video.
