recover deleted partition

I. Reasons for hard disk partition loss

Upon using or defragmenting the hard disk, some partitions vanished, making it impossible to view or access files in the file explorer. The missing partitions, now labeled as “unallocated” in “Disk Management“, could have disappeared due to various reasons.
●When cleaning a specific partition, other partitions were deleted by mistake.
●Power failure may render the partition inaccessible.
●Use diskpart command , causing all partitions and volumes to be erased.
●The hard disk data damage leads to the damage of the partition table, which leads to the disappearance of the partition.
●If there are bad sectors in the hard disk partition, the system may not be able to recognize the hard disk partition.

Data recovery function:

  • Fast Partition Scan – Quickly retrieve files lost due to accidental deletion or emptying the recycle bin.
  • Whole Partition Scan – Quickly recover files lost due to inaccessible or formatted partitions.
  • Whole Disk Scan – Analyze and get partition information and perform a full scan of the entire partition.
  • Image Creation – You can create a mirror image for a partition to back up the current partition state.
Step 2: Next select the hard drive that needs to be recovered. After the selection is complete, click (Next).

Step 3: Wait for the scan to complete. It will detect all previous partitions on the hard disk. When the “Select the partition you need to scan” window appears, choose the partition where data was deleted or lost. If no partition is selected, the scan will default to all partitions, which takes more time.
Step 4: Preview files in the deleted/lost partition during the scan. When you identify the required files, select them and click Recover to save the data to a different disk partition. Prior to storage, for restoring files to the original partition, consult the rebuilding method below.

2. When there is no important data in the partition, rebuild the partition directly

If there is no important data in the lost/accidentally deleted partition, you can directly restore the partition in Disk Management. The specific steps are as follows:
Right-click the Start menu and choose Disk Management. Locate the desired hard disk, right-click the unallocated space, and choose New Simple Volume. Follow the wizard to set the partition size, assign a drive letter, and select the file system (NTFS is recommended for Windows users). After completing these steps, the new partition will be accessible in File Explorer.

III. Check and repair damaged hard disk

If you do not delete the hard disk partition by mistake, but find that the partition suddenly disappears, then the hard disk may be faulty or damaged, and you can check and repair it after rebuilding the partition.

1. Use the file system error checking function that comes with the Windows system

Specific steps are as follows:
Step 1: Open the file explorer, right-click on the hard disk partition, select (Properties) > (Tools), and click (Check) in the “Error checking” column.
check disk
Step 2: Click (Scan and repair drive). If errors are found, the computer may need to be restarted to repair the file system.

2. Use the chkdsk command to repair the hard disk

Step 1: Search (cmd) directly in the search box in the lower left corner, and select (Run as administrator) to open the command prompt.
run as administrator
Step 2: Enter ( chkdsk F: /f /r /x ) command and press the (Enter) key to check and repair hard disk errors.
Chkdsk: Checks a volume’s file system and file system metadata for logical and physical errors.
F: Refers to the drive letter of the hard disk partition, which can be replaced according to the actual situation;
/f: will fix errors on disk;
/r: will find bad sectors and recover readable information;
/x: Refers to forcibly dismounting the volume if necessary; any open handles to the drive will be invalidated.

Enter the chkdsk disk repair command
To recover lost or deleted hard disk partitions in Windows, follow the steps above. To avoid future data loss, regularly back up your hard disk data to an external drive or cloud storage. Consider using Professional data backup software to set up automatic backup schedules.
