How to Reset the Password with Renee PassNow

Just complete the 3 tasks below to reset the login password on a Windows computer.

Task 1: Download and Install Renee PassNow

Task 2: Create Bootable Media with Renee PassNow
You need:
  • Renee PassNow
  • A Windows computer you can log in to and use normally (to download and install Renee PassNow).
  • USB stick or CD/DVD (needs at least 200MB )
Bootable media creation process :

1. Choose the media you want: USB or CD/DVD

2. Connect the USB/CD/DVD to your computer. Select one of [ Create a Live USB ] and [ Create a Live CD ]. Then select [ x64 ] or [ x86 ] based on your system architecture. Next, click [ Download Now ] to download the licensed ISO. Remember to activate the software first. After that, click [ Create USB ] to create the boot media.

Please back up the data on the USB drive in advance, because all of it will be erased when the bootable media is created.

Task 3: Reset Password with the Created Bootable Media
You need: The bootable media you created in Step 2 . Target PC.

Step 1: Boot the target PC from the bootable USB/CD/DVD.

1. Connect the bootable media to the PC whose password you want to reset.

2. Enter the BIOS settings.

Change the boot order of the target PC in BIOS. If the bootable drive isn’t first in the boot order, your PC will start “normally” (that is, it will boot from your hard drive) and won’t check your disc drive.
☞ If your computer is UEFI environment, check boot from USB under UEFI environment .

After you change the boot order in BIOS, save the BIOS settings and reboot your PC.

Step 2: After booting from the bootable media you created, select the “PassNow!” feature.

Step 3: Select the target system from the list.

Step 4: Choose the target account , then click “Clear Password” to reset its login password.

After the reset is successful, please restart your PC. Before you restart, disconnect the bootable USB/CD from your computer. Your computer will then boot normally.
If the account you want to reset the password for is a Microsoft account, Renee PassNow will create a local account with a similar name and keep all the data inside it. After the reset is complete, select the related local account on the login page.

Before trying the methods above, check these tips:1. Is the Caps Lock button turned on? The login password is case sensitive. You may have accidentally turned on Caps Lock, which could cause you to type the wrong password.2. The Num Lock button is not activated.
