Method 1: Unlock Windows 7 Password with Command Prompt
Tips: When you bypass Windows 7 password with command prompt, you need to know one administrator account with password. If the account which lead you locked out of the computer is the only one account in Windows 7, please move to method 3.
Step 1: Press F8 before the Windows 7 loading screen.
Step 2: Choose a Windows 7 safe mode option – “Safe Mode with Command Promote” and then please press “Enter” to next step.
Step 3: Wait for Windows 7 to load files . And type net user in the Command Prompt and press Enter to see how many user accounts in locked laptop.
Step 4: Type your locked user account with a new password in the command prompt.
Step 5: After restarting the laptop, please login the account with the new set password.
Method 2: Unlock Windows 7 Password with Administrator
If you share your computer with others, you may create another account which be set up to have administrator privilege. If yes, you can ask them to change the password for your with their account.
If your account is the only one on your computer, you may try the Method 3 directly if you do not want to reset Windows 7

How to Unlock Windows 7 Password

Task 1: Download and Install Renee Passnow
Task 2: Create Bootable Media with Renee Passnow
You need:
- Renee Passnow
- Windows computer which can login and work normally (The Windows system of the computer which you used to create bootable media does not matter.).
- USB stick (Please backup data inside the USB disk in advanced. All data will be erased when creating the bootable media) or CD/DVD(Need 200MB at least)
Bootable media create process:
1. Choose creation method: USB or CD/DVD
2. Connect the USB/CD/DVD to your computer. Select one option from [Crate a Live USB] and [Create a Live CD]. Then, select [x64] or [x86] according to your computer. Next, click on [Download Now] to download the licensed ISO. Remember to activate the software beforehand. After that, click on [Create USB] to create the boot media.
Task 3: Reset Password with the Created Bootable Media
Step 1: Boot the target PC from the bootable USB/CD/DVD.
1. Connect the bootable media to the locked out Windows 7 computer you want to reset Windows login password for.
2. Enter BIOS setting.
Please hold a Hot key to enter the BIOS menu.Please click here to find how to change the boot order of your computer brand. (Can not find your brand? Please refer to your PC manual to find out the method.)
Change the boot order of the locked out Windows 7 computer in BIOS. If the bootable drive is not the first in the boot order, your PC will start “normally” (i.e. boot from your hard drive) and will not check your bootable drive.
☞ If your computer is UEFI environment, check boot from USB under UEFI environment.
After successfully changing the boot order in BIOS, please save the settings and reboot your PC.
Step 2: Select “PassNow!” function after booting from the bootable media you created.
After loading into main interface, please select the “PassNow!” function.
Step 3: Select target Windows 7 system in the list.
Step 4: Choose the target account then click “Clear Password” to remove its login password.
After reset successful, please restart your PC. Before restarting the computer, please disconnect the bootable USB/CD from your computer. Then your computer will boot normally. Then you will find that you are no longer locked out of the Windows 7 computer.
If Windows still shows the login page which requires password, please press “Enter” directly.
Also, you can click “Create new account” to make a new administrator with Renee Passnow and then reset the password with this new created administrator.
