Part 2: Transfer Important Data

Before formatting the NEC laptop, you should transfer all files to another place. Unluckily, if Windows is not bootable, Renee Passnow can shoot this trouble. ③ Run this software and use a USB/CD/DVD to create a boot drive.

④ As the computer successfully boots from the boot drive, launch Renee Passnow and select the function [Undeleter].

⑤ Click [Whole Disk Scan] and select the target disk. As the scan is finished, select the lost data to recover. Finally, reboot the computer.

2. Transfer data

① Launch Renee PassNow. Select one option from [Crate a Live USB] and [Create a Live CD]. Then, select [x64] or [x86] according to your computer. Next, click on [Download Now] to download the licensed ISO. Remember to activate the software beforehand. After that, click on [Create USB] to create the boot media.

② Connect this drive to the target computer and set it to boot from this drive.

③ As the computer is booted, select the function [Data Transfer] on Renee PassNow.

④ Select the source and the destination, and then drag the folders to the target disk freely.

Part 3: Format NEC Laptop

Method 1: Factory Image Restore

① Boot the target computer. In the log-in screen, press the Shift key and the power button at the same time, and then select [Restart].

② After entering into the recovery environment, select [Troubleshoot] > [Factory Image Restore].

③ Follow the prompts to select the options and begin restoring the system.

Method 2: Windows Recovery

① Press [Win+I] to open Windows Settings. Then, select [Update & Security].

② At the left side, select the tab [Recovery]; click the button [Get started] under the section [Reset this PC].

③ Then, decide whether all files are removed in this process. If you still want to keep them but remove apps and settings, select the option [Keep my files]. Or, select another option [Remove everything].

④ Then, you need to confirm the apps that are to be removed and click [Next]. After that, follow the prompts to format the NEC laptop and reboot the computer.

Method 3: Reset Unbootable PC

This method is applied to the completely corrupted and inaccessible Windows.

① If the Windows system cannot get started twice, it will automatically enter into Windows Recovery Environment.

② Select [Troubleshoot] > [Reset this PC].

③ Select [Keep my files] or [Remove everything]. If you select the latter option, please ensure all files have been backed up. Next, we will show the following steps of this option.

④ After clicking [Remove everything], select [All drives] > [Just remove my files]. If you select the next option [Erase all drives], you have to wait for a long time.

⑤ Finally, click [Reset] and then wait for 30 to 60 minutes. During this process, the computer will get started several times. Just go through the on-screen instructions to format the NEC laptop.
