Summary
To provide a better security to comptuer, Windows 10 will hide and disable the built-in adminstrator which has the complete and unrestricted right. However, sometimes we need to make some changes with this administrator account. Here, methods about how to enable administrator account in Windows 10 will be provided.



What is Administrator?

After installing Windows 10, Windows will create a built-in account which is administrator automatically. This account has complete and unrestricted right, which can access any files in the computer. If any one get the administrator without permission, all information will be danger.

To protect the computer in a better way, the built-in administrator is hidden and disabled. But sometimes, we need to make system-wide changes which requires administrator. Here, we need to enable administrator account. Here, we will go through about how to enable Administrator account in Windows 10.

How to Enable Administrator Account in Windows 10?

Method 1: Enable Administrator Account with Command Prompt

Attention:Here we need to make use of anohter account with administratrive rights. If you do not have such account, please refer to Method 3.
Step 1: Open the command prompt with steps here: Click the Start menu, find out “Windows system” and click on it. Right click on the “command prompt”, click on “More” and then select “run as administrator”.

Step 2: Enter “net user administrator /active:yes” and press enter to process the command.

Step 3: If you get the notification that “The command completed successfully.”, you can login Windows 10 with the administrator account.

If you need to disable the Administrator, please enter net user administrator /active:no in Command Prompt and process the command.

Method 2: Enable Administrator Accoun with Local Group Policy Editor

If you want to enable the administrator in Windows 10 with this method, you need to login Windows 10 with other account wiht administrator privilege.
Step 1: Press “Windows” + “R”. Then please enter “lusrmgr.msc” in the pop up window and click “OK”.

Step 2: Please find and click “Users” in the pop up window. Then please try to find the disabled Adminstrator in the right side and double click it.

Step 3: Please make sure item “Account is disabled” is not checked. If it is checked, please do not check it and then click “OK” to save the settins.

This mehtod only works with anohter account with administratrive rights. If you do not have such account, you can enable Administrator with method 3 here.

Method 3: Enable Administrator Account with Passnow

This method does not need any administrator right.

Step 1: Download and install Renee PassNow in any workable Windows computer.

Select one option from [Crate a Live USB] and [Create a Live CD]. Then, select [x64] or [x86] according to your computer. Next, click on [Download Now] to download the licensed ISO. Remember to activate the software beforehand. After that, click on [Create USB] to create the boot media.

Step 3: Boot the target PC from the created password reset USB/CD/DVD.

You will boot the target computer via a new created reset disk. Firstly, please hold a hot key to enter the BIOS menu and put CD-ROM or Removable Devices as the first choice. Step 4: Select “PassNow!”.

Step 5: Select target administrator account and click “Enable”.

Besides, you can also create a new administrator to quickly access your PC. Please click “Create new account”.

The created administrator account named “Reneelab” with administrator rights, and its default password is “123456789”. You are able to change the password of target account with this new created administrator.
